Bucks or Ducks

After many snow days, we were happy to be back to school (with a 2 hour delay).
In our classroom it was Bucks and Ducks Day. We dressed in our scarlet and gray (or green and yellow if you must) in support of our Buckeyes in the National Championship game.

We created a graph to predict what our class thought would happen during tonight's big game.

We were hoping our graph was long enough for all the Buckeyes we had to add to the graph. It was...just barely!

Two of us want the Oregon Ducks to win.

22 of us wanted the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the big game!!! (go Bucks!!!!)

When we looked at our data this is what we learned.
Only time will tell.......

Christmas Presents for Students

This year I decided to make my kids dry erase boards out of melmac plates as their Christmas Present.

I had a great time dying the socks. I let them sit over night to get really colorful before cutting the rubber bands and  rinsing them.  Each sock is attached to the plate with ribbon and ties tight.

Inside the sock is a dry erase marker.

I used glitter bubble paint to write the names. Be sure to plan ahead for this project. The names take a few days to dry.

Many kids returned from our long holiday break talking about the dry erase boards. I think they were a real hit!
One suggestion, be sure you are able to drill through the plates BEFORE you spend a lot of time on this project. Thick plates are very tricky!

Thanks Dad!!!!!!!!!

Great websites

Some of you in attendance at my sessions at Creative Cornerstones asked for me to post information about the websites I recommended. For now I will post the sites. My email at home is VERY slow.  I cannot post a link to them yet. When I get to a place with faster Internet soon, I will update the posts with links.

My favorites on Teachers Pay Teachers are Julie Lee and Deanna Jump. Everything they produce is quality!

Kellyskindergarten has great games that you can program with your own words and skills. This is a fabulous website with tons of ideas.

Kidscount1234 is a fabulous site. Both of Shari Sloane's CDs are wonderful! On her site she has the ready to go enlarged text and some pictures making it easy to make big books of her songs.  I LOVE her song Bingo Bango Bongo (my kiddos did too).

I recently learned about a really great math site it is k-5mathteachingresources.com .  It is a great resource for common core math standard ideas for all elementary grades.

Winter Ideas

I am learning to put pdf documents in my posts. This only took 5 months to learn. Oh well, all in good time.  I am not very tech savvy, so I am learning out of necessity.

Winter phone number writing practice recording sheet

I use this for a center idea.
